According to cavers, this is the best all-around adventure cave in a 4-state area. Over 1.6 miles have been mapped with 3 new passages found in recent years. It has been a commercial show cave since about 1932.
This is a unique living cave, consisting of winding underground river channels that periodically open into larger rooms.
Formations found in the cave include stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, rim-stone dams, soda straws, cave popcorn, dogtooth spar, helictites, moon milk, and calcite shields.
The property has several springs, smaller caves, an old zinc mine, and a beautiful canyon. Crinoid fossils are found in abundance in the cave and outside.
